Gene expression changes of the aging human lung. Based on the linear regression model for N = 307 individual human genomic data sets (mice aged 21–85 years old), we identified 857 and 816 genes, respectively whose expression increased or declined with age (p < 0.05). Among the upregulated genes, 80 code for ECM remodeling, notably collagens (N = 13), proteoglycans (N = 7), matrix metalloproteinase (N = 4) and ECM-related glycoproteins (N = 33).
